Building the Ford Cosworth DFV 1:12 scale F1 Engine

Main sprue for the engine parts

Parts for the engine block cleaned up and ready for assembly

Starts with sump assembly.
-Dry sump. There will be two scavenge pumps attached. One on each side.

Cylinder blocks attached.
V8 with 90 degrees angle.
The engine block is a structural component of the car.

Oil pump and water pump assembly.
One for each side.
Connects to auxiliary drive on each side.
Left side assembly to the left, right one to the right.

Mechanical fuel injection system

Fuel injection system connected to ignition distributor

Dry fit

Lucas fuel injection and ignition.

Fuel injectors

Attaching the intake trumpets.
Using the air intake scoop as a template for glueing.



Dry fit of injector plates with air intake trumpets


Gluing on the fuel injector plate assemblies.
Using the intake scoop as a jig to make sure it's straight.

Attaching the gear shift and filling gaps with some putty.

Starter motor shaft.
Has some funny cutout in it.
It's to give room for the working suspension.



Photo etch shims for the disk brakes

Metalizer coated transaxle..

Dry fit.

Gearbox transaxle.
Also holds the attachment points for the rear suspension.

Engine done
